This groundbreaking, immersion-based program, developed in close collaboration with industry executives, prepares students to create real change in health care from their first day on the job.
A strong foundation of business and leadership skills
It starts with Vanderbilt's nationally ranked core MBA education, an intensive immersion in the fundamentals of management. Students earn a concentration in the discipline of their choice—finance, operations, strategy, IT, human and organizational performance, or marketing. The modular curriculum allows students to prepare for careers in specific health care sectors such as medical equipment, biotech, consulting, pharmaceuticals, or managed care.
Unmatched industry insight and hands-on experience
During the first year, students spend full shifts in hospital units, treatment centers, and back offices to learn first-hand how care is delivered, decisions are made, and processes either facilitate or impede delivery of quality health care. In the second year, students help develop strategy with health care executives and gain extraordinary exposure to the complex challenges of the industry.
Real-world expertise in the classroom
Courses are taught by Vanderbilt's world-class faculty as well as prominent executives within Nashville's dynamic health care community. Students will learn health care policy from a U.S. Congressman, health care finance from a Wall Street Analyst, and entrepreneurship from the founders of well-known health care companies.
